Research has shown that both NPs and RNs struggle with aspects of transitioning to practice from academic settings. Areas of concern for new NP students are prescribing practices, advanced assessments, professional communication, and documentation. Orienting new NP students with a foundation of NP clinical practice knowledge provides the framework for applying their academic knowledge.
